CHALLENGE

Waste management in Mexico City has been a pressing issue for years. There is not a wellestablished recycling system which allows people to effectively and efficiently separate their garbage.

OUTCOME

With that in mind, the Zicla App, along with its recycling station, helps to visualize the users’ habits surrounding waste: how much waste is generated, by which products, and improvement opportunities to lead a more sustainable life. Furthermore, the system aims not only to improve consumer habits, but also to provide a platform that creates healthy and supportive communities formed around these new practices. Eventually, the App would be able to gather user’s data to inform public policy making or activist movements. Zicla aims to be a factor of change in social habits towards waste production.
